SINOCHEM METP Summary

Time is like a never-ending stream,in a hurry ,quietly flowed from the people around. Without any sufficient notice and attention, four weeks of the magical journey has slipped away. As new members of Sinochem fleet of merchant ships, we had spent four weeks to taking part in Maritime Enhancement Training Programme (METP), which include maritime English enhancement, military training and other group activities, all of these aim to promote our maritime English level, strengthen our body constitution, strengthen our awareness of team work and so on, in order to we can adapt the life and work on board well.

At the beginning of the METP, most of us knew nothing about it at all, and has no idea that what were waiting for us. We come from all parts of the nation ,graduated from different universities or colleges, dispatched by different companies, but today ,we get together, we have the same name ,the cadets of Sinochem , no matter deck  cadets or engine cadets,we are family.

The life of METP is arduous and monotonous , but significative . According to the training plan , we learn and practice maritime English in the whole morning and we have military training in the whole afternoon , even in the evening , we spend two hours to exercising military pugilism . We carry out any activity on the basis of schedule strictly . For most of us , the life is quite different than before, it changes too much . We get up earlier , do every thing follow the schedule and have less time to rest , have less time to entertain . But work on board , the life is the same as it .

Without the care from family or school ,away from easy and relaxed life , a part members of us have negative attitude , the emotion of weary ,inactive and antagonistic begin to come into being , even someone dodge or quit the training . Still like this , mots of us take sanguine attitude and take an active part in day -by-day lessons and training , even though someone among us slack himself , the others will give a hand to him and support him reach the destination .

We study together , we train together , everyday we all are persisting , everyday we all get a new achievement . I know that, for someone of us ,a lot of difficult will be faced with , especially in English learning and military training .

For maritime English learning : As we all know , language just is a tool for communication ,English is same . So we learn English how to express our ideas and learn how to get useful information from others in English .We carry out maritime English enhancement training are enhance the proficiency of the maritime English of cadets and prepare us for working on board ship . As we know, there is a all English surroundings on board , every instrument and publication base on English and use English to communicate no matter internal or external . English is widely used on board . We have the various level skills in charge of English , but first ,we should have enough confidence to master English ,open you mouth ,speak loudly , read more and write more and communicate with each other as far as possible . As to maritime English ,in addition , it also include many specialized vocabulary ,we should be familiar with and remember them .

  For military training : working on board is not a easy thing ,all the crew need strong bodies and adamant volition , it is also the goal of military training . Military training make us tired , even injured . But none among us give up ,we all are persisting in it . There is no shortcut but keep persistent .This principle is also the same with our career . Persisting is the only way to destination when play football with leader group of Sino Chem , most of them are captain or chief engineers while we are young men just beyond twenty years old , however ,they have the same physical agility roughly with us . Especially , Capt.Zhu ,he has a strong body condition even though with some gray hair and run like the wind on the football ground . We must ask ourselves that after twenty even thirty years ,whether we will have the same physical status.

Although the METP merely has past only a month ,I have already learnt too much . Such as discipline, obedience , courtesy , personal appearance, work attitude, emergency readiness and safety awareness. Not only pick up a great quantity professional knowledge, improve our English level , but also strengthen our body and will. All of them are the basic characters working as a officer of engineer on board needed.

Bid farewell to the life at school ,we start a new journey . In our past years ,during our memorable school life . There have been sweat , there was joy , there was sad. All this happened as if in the eyes .Prior to some years ,I chose Dalian Maritime University, I choose navigation technology as my major. Because to be a captain and to sail all around the world is my dream.

For most of us , despite different reasons , but we get together ,we chose Sinochem ,we chose navigation ,I believe it is a right choice .

In the future , we will meet more difficulties, we will face with more challenges. No matter what will be waiting for us ,we will have no fear. All of us are preparing to start our career on board . I believe , in a mighty storm,there is a beautiful rainbow. Etrive excellence. We are ready!
